Atlantic City Surf Go Digital with Playing for Peanuts
The Atlantic City Surf have teamed up with TV show "Playing for Peanuts" to offer digital TV show downloads to their fans.

/Baseball News Articles/ - ATLANTIC CITY, NJ, August 18, 2008 - The Atlantic City Surf have teamed up with TV show "Playing for Peanuts" to offer digital TV episode downloads to their fans.

Beginning August 19, fans will receive a free Digital Download Card with every purchase at the Surf Gift Shop. The plastic cards - manufactured by Dropcards.com - will allow fans to download free episodes and music from the show. Episodes can be viewed on portable video devices including iPods, iPhones and PSPs.

"Playing for Peanuts" is a 10-episode reality TV series chronicling a year in the life of the South Georgia Peanuts. Camera crews followed the Peanuts during their only season in the ill-fated South Coast League. The TV series premiered in May 2008 on TV networks in nine regional markets, averaging 150,000 viewers nationally.

"It's exciting to be able to partner with the Surf on a unique promotion like this," explains "Playing for Peanuts" producer John Fitzgerald. "I'm hoping the promotion introduces the TV show to baseball fans who might not have heard of it otherwise."

Surf pitcher Derek Duclos and Surf manager Cecil Fielder both appear in "Playing for Peanuts." In 2007, Duclos was a member of the South Georgia Peanuts bullpen, while Fielder was the manager of league rival Charlotte County Redfish.
