Rare Barry Bonds Bat Used Between Home Runs 754 & 755 on eBay
Up for auction is an ultra rare, game used Barry Bonds bat used between home runs 754 and 755 in San Francisco.
/Baseball News Articles/ - August 10, 2007 - As Barry Bonds is ready to rewrite perhaps the most storied record in sports any moment now, there is another very special Barry Bonds item available now on eBay.
Up for auction is an ultra rare, game used Barry Bonds bat. On Sunday, July 29th, Barry Bonds was hitting in the 4th inning at AT&T Park in San Francisco. It was a beautiful afternoon, and the anticipation of Bonds tying Hank Aaron's home run record created a buzz every time he stepped to the plate.
On this particular occasion, Bonds took a mighty swing and the ball sailed to deep right field, as the crowd roared with thoughts of witnessing history. It was not to be, as the ball was caught. The bat went flying off the pitch thrown by Sergio Mitre and was caught in the stands by Steffin Kutzman of Steffin Kutzman & Associates, a Giants season ticket holder. The bat handle had remained in Bonds' hand, and in the video, he can be seen passing it along to the bat boy.
Steffin knew his special item would be much more special if the handle could be obtained to go with his bat. What you see in the photos here are both ends of the bat. Note the special numbering that Bonds has with this bat, as well as his trademark white tape. "With word that the Bonds home run ball that breaks Aaron's record is going to be worth perhaps millions, this one of a kind bat available for bidding at $5,000 is an incredible opportunity for the collector, dealer, or museum", said Kutzman. "We have already been fielding inquiries from across the country and look forward to making one lucky bidder very happy", Kutzman added.
